=D i went to the chingay today hahah! =]]]] It was a totally different experience than what i expected. so fun!!! =DDD
but the getting there was kinda horrible hahaha. once i stepped out of somerset, they blocked the road -.- how unlucky. i had to walk from the mrt to orchad point and back to heeren -.- and the same thing happened to yihui and she walked all the way to taka's underpass. Its so sad not being able to cross to the other side when its just a few meters away hahahah.
When we entered the barricades, the places near the stands were filled and we had to go to some ulu place right in the center of the two performing areas. We couldnt see much of the pre-parade performances and the host of our area was trying super hard to get us to be high, but failed terrible. really really terrible hahahaha... it was very very cold at that time -.- but it became better when the parade started!! The performers were really very amazing and the floats were kinda pretty! hahaha =]] The costumes were super elaborate and cool too!
At the beginning was a uniquely singapore float, though i really thought it wasnt very uniquely singapore. but following this float were people dressed like the cyborg robots! its so cool! and there were alot of people cosplaying too! really really pretty! =D
Around the 4th float we saw xinyan!!!! hahahah she looked so pretty! ^^
One of the more memorable group of performers were the people from the japanese association!!!!!! I strongly think that japanese people are really cool and nice now =D Before them all the performers were so dao but when they came, they just started smiling and smiling and waving and talking to us =DDD and the uncles carrying the fans came to fan us and WOAH their fans i must say is super strong hahaha it felt like aircon ^^ The japanese uncles and aunties were super friendly and cute! Yay love japanese people!!!!
Another group i remembered was the magical garden one. the guy dressed as a bug was so cute! he kept charging at us trying to scare us HAHA!
Oh there was a gymnastics float too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha super cool! the SJI guy was performing on the pommel ON the float and the other one was on the parallel beams. Wei wei was swinging on the uneven bars and the whole float was shaking HAHA so scary! but so cool!!!!!!!!! =DDDDDD
After the parade, we were walking in the middle of the road. hahaha the time once in a year we get to dominate and walk on orchad road freely without getting run down ^^ We walked to fareast, sat down and started chatted =]] Trying to get home was horrible too. I waited for 171 for goodness know how long and when it came it just zoomed by without stopping. Its a BUS and it didnt stop at the BUSSTOP. so pissifying!!! -.- haha and in the end i took the mrt and my daddy fetched me from newton =]

YAY overall the whole experience was super fun! and totally passed my expectations hahaha. i expected it to be super boring coz i never really liked watching floats which cost thousands of dollars and still look so gross, or performers with feathers sticking out all over the place. But when im there it was a totally different experience. The costumes are really pretty closeup! =]] and the performers put up a great performance, especially still being so enthusiastic although they've walked for so long.
They really spread the joy to their audience =) Their enthusiasm really awed me. =)
