OBS OBS OBS!!!!

I just got back from obs on Friday! with a totally different mood as i would have expected myself to be in though =[ i was feeling rather sad as i walked up to my doorstep which seemed so strange and braced myself to return to reality. I wasn't all that keen to return to civilisation, air-con or my comfy bed after all.

OBS was a totally new experience (and fun too! now that i look back) and everybody should go for obs!

First day - went to school early in the morning, and i mean really early. i think i was the second student in school la hahaha coz i took a ride from my dad's taxi since hes going to the airport. And so i sat in the canteen alone doing physics -.- rarrrrrr! before camp still gotta rush homework and soon enough people started coming and i went back to classroom where everybody were copying answers haha! gosh the beginning of the five days wasn't very encouraging.

after rushing and rushing and handing up physics we all just went to the LT stayed there, then got shuffled up a bus and before we knew it we were at punggol jetty. we then waited for quite awhile before 12 of us got onto a boat. I still remember the boat ride there was filled with uncertainty and excitement =D when we reached the other jetty the instructor accompanying our boat went "Its not too late to regret, its only a 2km swim back". like wa.... so encouraging... hahaha. i couldnt walk straight when walking to the campsite haha! im so lousy xD

The first thing we did when we got on shore was that we got lost! HAHA the scene was so funny.
[Sidetrack abit first, later in the following days when we had our circle with our instructor,
Ashleen: We have a suggestion for obs! Put signboards! the first thing we came to obs we got lost! Then some uncle had to direct us from the jetty.
Sam: By any chance was he doing this *starts waving his hands in some way*
Ashleen: I dont know, ya i think so...
Sam: That was me.
The rest of us: *laughs like mad!* HAHAHA]

After getting the correct direction we walked abit and came to a hall where we were sorted out and seated in our groups. Then a instructor went up to the front and started briefing us with his incredibly DJ-ish voice. He really sounded like a DJ! =]] After everybody arrived we had another briefing and were given our group names plus introduced to our instructors. Our group was called Columbus! [ =D unusually nice name among the others, eg battuta?? cheng ho??] and our instructor was Samuel whom we all call Sam in the end , and yes he is the DJ! And coincidentally the same instructor whom waiian had and happily told me all about! haha!
The next one hour was spent getting to know our teammates. 302: Jessica, Stefanie, Suesin, Shi Ing, Ao Yuan, Xiao Yang, Jiale and me! 310: Ashleen, Francis, Edwyna, Samantha, SuHuan, Katherine and Xiao Xiao! Columbus is love!!! And that we when we got to really get a taste of Sam's lameness. Sam is super lame!!!! But along the course i realised that most of teh instructors were too -.-
We did a check of our equipments, got our food supplies for the next five days: alot alot alot alot alot of biscuits, maggi mee, weird can food, funny prunes and raisins whom nobody ate, and lotsa bread.
After doing all these stuff we started on our outdoor adventures. Firstly we followed Sam and climbed up a long staircase which Sam calls the 'stairway to heaven' and we discovered a grass plain with all the height activities. But we continued walking and came to somewhere inside the forest where he then taught us how to pitch a tent and we were sleeping there that night! We took the tent which he pitched for demo and it was the best, non-saggy tent we had the whole five days HAHA! And jiale, me, aoyuan, shiing and ashleen decided to be tentmates =D After pitching our tents we went to do a trust fall activity, where each of us had to stand on a higher platform and fall backwards while our teammates we pulling on a blue sheet ready to catch us. i thought it was fun! =DDD And after that we learnt how to wear our harness properly and learnt the basics of rockclimbing, belaying etc.

After all of that we had to cook! YAY food! FOOD! although our rice was half-cooked,crunchy and very tiring to chew on, dinner was nice! with canned baked beans and cocktails. anything is nice when you're hungry ^^ After dinner we went to bathe and the water is sooooo cold!! x[ I kind of forgot what we did next o.o i think we gathered and Sam briefed us on packing for the next days activities and then we went to pack! We were also introduced to baby Columbus! Our super cute yellow first aid bag ^^ baby columbus is really very cute!! hahaha !After that there was a firedrill! The fire alarm was just a big bell which one of the instructors had to keep ringing. the bell is so cute! hahaha! Everybody had to go down to the jetty area and samantha saves the day since shes so tall (and even taller when she raised her hand) which makes her so easy to spot among the ren shan ren hai even from so far away HAHA!
After firedrill was lights out and i slept nearest to the opening of the tent. But i guess its the best spot since theres the most fresh air =D I flipped around for quite a while before falling asleep but i kept waking up in the middle of the night before falling back to sleep. First night was rather sad x( although i wasn't sleeping on a root like poor Aoyuan hahaha!

Second Day - We woke up early in the morning around 530, being greeted by malay prayers coming from dunno where. And on the way down from mozzie ground we bumped into a spider web! right smack in front of our faces oh gosh i cant imagine if Ashleen didn't shine the light onto it. wa so sad! haha its so freaky! we washed up and continued packing but we were late xD haha late on the first day! but Sam didnt scold us though we were really quite late. After PT and journal writing, we picked up our super duper duper duper duper duper heavy backpack and head out to our next campsite. We were totally dying as we walked to a lake and finally got to put down our bags at a alpine rescue site. The site had log structures and we were supposed to transport our stretcher with our supposedly injured casualty, which was 2 bagpacks, across to the other side. It was there also that we met our buddy watch, raleigh! (rachel's watch) and their instructor called lam (or maybe its lum). He is super lame tooo!!!!!! rarrr hahahah! And apparently Raleigh was rather close to instructor lam and they called him "lam of shit" (lump of shit) hahaha!
Anyway back to the activity, Columbus was super successful at this activity!!! we got on to the third station and only didnt manage to complete our last phase. Here, we started to bond as a watch and Columbus was really highspirited ^^ Raleigh was quite down and havent managed to complete their first stop after an hour. Maybe its because their first stop is the most challenging.
After that we put on our horrible backpacks again and trekked over to camp 1, the chalet like camp. We were really dying off as we trekked but luckily we didnt trek for very long. After putting down our haversacks we were given a tour of the pretty campsite and we were totally hyped up when we got to eat lunch there!! (at least i was!) FOOD!!! FOOOD!!!! I piled alot of rice onto my plate and we got veggie and some really nice meat and ice cold rootbeer!!!!! gosh thats the best treat after having drunk super chlorinated water straight from the tap for the previous day. I've never appreciated food so much more in my life. it was totally heavenly!! Oh yes and Ashleen teared upon seeing the nice soft rice when she thought of the rice we had cooked ourselves last night. hahahah! Sams plate was really a mountain! he really does eat alot of rice!
After the really satisfying lunch, we went rockclimbing! It wasnt all that scary afterall since i've got a fear of heights. I just climbed and worried about how to take the next step, while somewhere deep inside me i knew i wouldn't die coz jiale was belaying me down there and she wouldnt let me die either ^^ And after climbing and climbing i found i was stuck and since it was raining i came down. Thats when i realised i was so high above, maybe its nothing for you but i was really happy with my height! =DD

We had another happy dinner and then went back to pitch our tents when it stopped raining. but i found my bag plus my belongings wet!!!! so disgusting! x( After bathing and stuff we had supper, nice hot green bean soup which didnt seem very popular but i liked it =] After that we had our evening circle, sharing our thoughts on that day and then lights out. I slept right inside this time and it was so stuffy x(
I slept right through this night though =D

Third Day - We arose with the chanting of the muslim prayers again. After packing up, we geared up for a new day of kayaking to a new campsite! Pt was some fun "left left left, right right right, forward, backward, forward forward forward" game! hahah =D we had some really nice un-milo-ish milo for breakfast and beehoon. Then we loaded our stuff onto a boat before we went off to learn kayaking, how to kayak, capsize, etc. And while Sam was teaching a big jellyfish just floated onto shore with the waves. so freaky!!!! Capsizing was so not fun, especially in the open ocean. Its like forcing yourself to kill yourself and frantically attempting to save yourself after that. Plus its especially scary when you're about to capsize and you see a jellyfish somewhere around you!!! waaa lol.
But kayaking was really fun!! =D sorry jiale for always asking you to turn!!! coz we keep overturning when we turn HAHA =DD While we were struggling and rowing for our life, our instructors were in their "Sam and Lam Loveboat", zoom forward and wait for us to slowly catch up. After about 3 hours(?) we arrived at our next campsite! I love this campsite! coz its so serene although there are wild dogs and they are rather noisy -.- The doggies are cute! Hee! =D The toilet however was horrible. the water coming from the tap is BROWN and it stinks! and there are a million mozzies in the toilet hahaha! and on the way back from the tour to the toilet we witnessed how rachel and lam bickers and its totally hilarious!!! could die laughing ahahah!!
We spent the rest of the time unpacking, pitching our tents, cooking and eating dinner. Suhuans backpack went missing and we went around hunting for it but still couldnt find it =[[[ so sad. After that sam brought us up to the top of a tiny hill and had our evening circle. It was a totally wonderful evening and our laughter ringing out into the silent night was a really cool feeling. I could really really feel the bond in our group at that moment and i knew i would totally miss columbus. Sam also shared his story that night and it was really hard to believe and touching..... after journal writing, we just lay on the pavement and looked up in the dark dark night with all the pretty stars decorating the sky with its glowing light. It was the most beautiful night sky i've seen and its probably the first time i totally felt stress free.

I shall just start whining about today now. AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! theres gym tmr!!!!! GRR spoil my wonderfully planned special day! and i was planning to bake my day away at home tmr TT roar! Nvrmind i shall go walk orchad after cca ^^ ]
